U City in Bloom – Plein Air Art Festival Cancelled for 2020
Due to such unusual circumstances from the COVID outbreak, U City in Bloom believes that this year we do not want to cause people to be too close together. Because of that the festival will not take place in 2020. What we will have is a Virtual Art Competition, and you will be part of that. We are asking artists to begin creating artworks any where in U. City and enter their work digitally to UCB. “Plein Air, meaning “in the open air,” is a form of art created outdoors.” Plein Air artists will paint, outdoors, around University City’s historic Civic Plaza, or anywhere they would like in University City. They will submit this to UCB to be judged by Plein Air art masters We will put this on our web site. Then the works will be judged for some monetary prizes to be awarded Sunday October 4, 2020. The fun part for you, the residents, is that you may also view the work, follow the artists on Instagram, and submit your vote for “People’s Choice.”
You have the opportunity to view their creations, on our website, vote for your favorite, and purchase original artwork of the iconic Delmar Loop and surrounding historic U. City neighborhoods. And support the work of the artists who are very generous to UCB.
