Janine Helton will be one of the guest artists showing her watercolors at the Green Door Gallery, 21 N. Gore Ave., Webster Groves, MO, from May 3 – June 28th. The exhibition’s opening reception is on Friday, May 17th, from 5 to 8 p.m., with refreshments. Janine would love to see you there.
Janine Helton – Watercolors
Janine always loved the beautiful, soft look of watercolor paintings, but didn’t pick up a paintbrush until the fall of 2009 when she started taking classes with a local artist.
Janine explains “I love letting the water and pigment have its way with loose, watery, and splashy backgrounds and then getting into detail at the heart of the subject, be it the feathers of an owl or the eyes of a child. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with layering techniques to achieve glowing colors, depth and movement in my paintings.”
Her paintings have won numerous awards and honors in art competitions nationally. She am a Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist; and earned Signature status in the Missouri Watercolor Society, the Saint Louis Watercolor Society, as well as the Georgia Watercolor Society.
