Carol Jessen’s Workshop in Boothbay Harbor, Maine

Hello, All,

This year’s workshop in Boothbay Harbor will be held from September 10 – 14, 2018.

As many of you know, this is primarily a plein air workshop, with facilities for critiques and rainy days at the Boothbay Lion’s Club in West Boothbay Harbor, about half a mile from downtown.  The Boothbay Region has many picturesque places to paint so you will get to see some of the best the area has to offer.

The day will start with a brief description of the focus of that day’s lesson.  Values, color themes, granulation, underpainting, and compositional considerations will all be covered.  We will then caravan to the day’s painting location where I will do a demonstration.  The rest of the day you will be free to sketch or paint before we return to the Lion’s Club for a critique of the day’s paintings.

I choose locations that are convenient to restaurants, but you can also pack a lunch.

There are plenty of motels, inns, B & B’s, and house rentals to choose from.  The Beach Cove Resort is about a block from the workshop headquarters, but many other lodging choices can be found online.  Although the workshop is held after Labor Day, lodging should be booked in advance to avoid being disappointed.

Remarkably, I’m keeping the tuition the same as the past decade at $400 for the five day workshop. So many instructors have raised their rates to almost unaffordable levels, so this is a real bargain!

If you desire, I can send you a supply list when you sign up.

Please feel free to ask other questions.  I an be reached by email at:  caroljessen@yahoo.com or by phone…..314-706-6333.

Here are some paintings of the area to inspire you to come to this great peninsula!  Hope to see you there!
