Self Help Painters

We want to share some photos taken by Suzanne Galli Koenen at the Wednesday, April 4th, gathering of the Self Help Painters, a Saint Louis Watercolor Society sponsored program.  You can see the camaraderie the members enjoy and why this has become so popular.  The Fall 2018 session is already full, but watch for announcements of future sessions and contact David P. Anderson if you would like to participate.

I am new to Missouri and looking to connect with the art community. Is this self help thing a weekly event? I was planning on entering the upcoming show, but the piece I was working on did not get done. How strict are the about the within 3 years thing. The recent works are figure, and not for sale. http://Www.gabrielebaberart.com Gabriele Baber

      Gabriele,

The Self Help Painters group is a Saint Louis Watercolor Society sponsored event so you need to be a member to participate. Right now the group is full through Fall 2018, but if you watch the website posts, we will announce the next session for Spring 2019 in late winter. It is a once a week meeting where artists paint together and lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks.

As for our shows, all paintings submitted must be for sale. We have an Annual Juried Exhibition which is juried and going on now at Missouri Artists on Main in St. Charles, MO. In Fall, Oct. 2018, we will have our Annual Members Awards Exhibition and all members are welcome to submit one painting to this show.

If you want to join the Saint Louis Watercolor Society, we have monthly meetings Sept through May of each year and invite guest artists to give presentations. We also host workshops by nationally known watercolor artists and our members get the first chance to sign up for these.

We hope you will consider joining our organization and then coming to some of our meetings and events. Just watch the website and become a Follower of the blog and you will always receive notice of new posts.

      Best Regards,
Jane Hogg, Secretary of the STLWS
