Hello, Everyone,
I’m planning my yearly workshop here in Boothbay Harbor, Maine! This year’s workshop will concentrate on translating values into colors. It’s not enough to decide on colors, literal or inventive, but to be able to convert colors into values–dark, mid-tones, and lights. Sometimes that involves the actual colors chosen; other times it means figuring out the ratio of paint and water to determine values. More about that if you make an inquiry.
Tuition remains steady at $400 for the week.
Dates: September 4th – 8th.
We will have a reception on Sunday night, Sept. 3rd to get acquainted and to hear an overview of the week’s schedule.
Headquarters will be the at Lion’s Club, a spacious studio setting.
Lodging: If you want very economical lodging, try the Ship Ahoy Motel on Southport Island, a short drive from the workshop headquarters. Smuggler’s Inn is another choice on Ocean Point. Newly remodeled.
Moderate motels – I love Brown’s Wharf. There is also a restaurant on the premises. Brown’s is on the quiet eastside of the Harbor. Beach Cove Resort is conveniently located a block from the workshop headquarters and overlooks beautiful West Harbor Pond.
Newagen Inn is at the south end of Southport . Pool, surrounded by water, restaurant on site. It’s about fifteen minutes from the Lion’s Club.
A little more expensive: The Topside Inn is located at the top of McKown Hill and overlooks the whole bay. Their breakfasts are legendary.
And of course, visit the Boothbay Harbor Chamber of Commerce for more choices.
If you choose to come, book your motel room early to get the best choice of lodging.
Spouses will find plenty to do while you are painting. There are day sails, lighthouses, Ocean Point walks, nature preserves, and a world class botanical garden.
