Sealing Watercolor Paintings

The art world is changing and more and more watercolor artists are trying methods to seal their artwork so glass is not required in framing.  Although this technique has not been sanctioned for entry into most juried shows across the country at this time, it may come to be accepted down the road.  It has been argued that the glare of glass puts watercolor art at a disadvantage when  it is displayed with oils and acrylics.

The Saint Louis Watercolor Society would like to allow their members to seal their artwork to be displayed at CJ Muggs, which does not allow framing with glass, only Plexiglas.   We are offering Spencer Meagher’s technique, which is fairly simple,  for you to try.
